February 17 (Monday) is the “Washington’s Birthday” (also known as President’s Day) in the United States. We hereby notify that the trading hours of the US stock market will be adjusted. All users are requested to pay close attention to the following information and reasonably arrange your investment and remittance plans.

The market will be closed all day on February 17 (Monday).

Normal trading will be on February 18th (Tuesday).

Remittance business notice

During this period, BiyaPay’s remittance business will proceed normally.

Background

George Washington, Commander-in-Chief of the Army during the American Revolutionary War from 1775 to 1783. He became the first president of the United States in 1789. He received unanimous support from all the Electoral College in two consecutive elections. He served as president until 1797. He is the only US president to be elected with the support of all Electoral College. During his tenure, he made great contributions to the consolidation of the new country.

Washington’s birthday is commonly known as President’s Day. In 1879, a bill passed by the U.S. Congress decided to list Washington’s birthday as a federal holiday for the first time. The Monday Holiday Act, which took effect in 1968, moved Washington’s birthday from February 22 to the third Monday in February. However, including this bill, there is no legal provision in the United States to officially change the name of “Washington’s Birthday” to the now better known “Presidents’ Day”. The private situation is different. More and more Americans have designated the third Monday in February as “Presidents’ Day”.
